LISBON — In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Derrick Duvall, 48, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, with sentencing set for Sept. 30.
Duvall was indicted for possessing the narcotic drug buprenorphine on Dec. 6, 2019.

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, felony cases against Kayla Wardensky, 33, Cherry Fork Avenue, Leetonia, were bound over to the county grand jury after she waived her right to a preliminary hearing for charges of obstructing justice and two counts assault on a peace officer.
Misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and possession of drugs were dismissed.
During the course of a domestic violence complaint on June 16 at her Leetonia residence, Wardensky allegedly became disorderly with Columbiana Patrolman Mary Kloss and assaulted her by kicking and scratching her and also assaulted another police officer while he was using a dry stun on her after she kicked Kloss, causing Kloss to fall into a bath tub and causing her physical harm. The drug charge stemmed from her alleged possession of marijuana.
A court trial was set on July 25 for Alex Porter, 37, Albright Avenue, Columbiana, charged with failure to comply, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly giving a false name during a traffic stop while a passenger in a vehicle, then pushing a Columbiana patrolman and fleeing on foot on March 30. He was taken into custody after a laser deployment and struggle. During a search incident to arrest, a meth pipe with heavy residue was found in his right pants pocket and a snort straw was located in his possession. He’s also facing a trial July 25 on a charge of driving under suspension on April 6 in Columbiana.
A preliminary hearing was set July 18 for Austin Baird, 20, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, charged with discharging a firearm, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety. Baird allegedly fired a shot from a firearm while standing in the street on July 10 in the 600 block of Cherry Street in Salem, yelling to a woman that he was going to shoot her in the face. Three women were all outside just south of the residence when the shot was fired and the victim’s 8-month-old son and her grandmother were just inside the residence, 25 yards from where the shell casing was found.
A preliminary hearing was set July 21 for Beau Manley, 39, Wood Street, East Palestine, charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly having a stolen registration sticker on the back of the license plate of the vehicle he was driving during a traffic stop on July 14 in Columbiana. The sticker had been reported stolen on Oct 12, 2021 through the county Sheriff’s Office.
Erich Mericle, 37, Allen Avenue, Columbiana, was fined $250 and sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for nine days served for domestic violence for threatening to keep a woman in the Allen Avenue, Columbiana residence, on July 4, not allowing her to leave and threatening to rape her and kill her.
A pretrial was set July 21 for Justin Spack, 29, Arch Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence and disorderly conduct-intoxicated for allegedly pushing his mother and threatening to beat his mother and father, admitting to police that he was intoxicated and had been screaming at his mother on July 14 at the Arch Street, Salem residence where they all live together. Police had already been to the residence earlier in the day. He had been intoxicated then and given a warning for disorderly conduct.
Sarah Graham, 19. Pinewood Drive, New Waterford, was fined $250 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 150 days suspended, with credit for 18 days already served, for domestic violence. She was also ordered to perform 60 hours community service. Graham punched her father in the face multiple times and bit him on his arm and also hit her mother with a closed fist and kicked her in the head multiple times on June 21 in Washingtonville.
A motion hearing was set Aug. 18 for Lance Grimes, 50, E. Pine Lake Road, New Springfield, charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Stephanie Igo, 33, Jimtown Road, East Palestine, was fined $100 for disorderly conduct for an incident in Unity Township on July 11.
Hunter Cross, 23, Youngstown, was fined $100 for driving under suspension and improper/expired registration.
A pretrial was set Sept. 26 for Steven Paniagua, 51, Youngstown, charged with improper passing and speeding
A pretrial was set Sept. 27 for Jamie Dattilio, 43, Hawkins Lane, Columbiana, charged with speeding.
A pretrial was set Sept. 22 for Michael Harrington, 31, Boring Lane, East Liverpool, charged with speeding, tail lights and use of unauthorized plate.
EAST LIVERPOOL — In East Liverpool Municipal Court, Jamie Nicholson, 43, Dakota Street, East Liverpool, was fined $400 and sentenced to seven days in jail for assault, amended from domestic violence, fictitious plates and drug abuse instrument. The assault occurred Dec. 27, 2021 when he was found fleeing the Vista Motel following a report from his live-in girlfriend, Megan McBride, that he assaulted her.
The charge of fictitious plates stemmed from a May 7 traffic stop on Challenger Drive. The drug abuse instrument charge stemmed from a traffic stop on June 2 in St. Clair Township when Nicholson was a passenger and had an active warrant for his arrest. While executing the warrant, St. Clair Township officers found a wooden box containing suspected marijuana. Permission was obtained from the driver to conduct a search of the vehicle and three hypodermic needles, a marijuana grinder with trace amounts of marijuana in it, and a gold metal object with a white residue in it suspected to be used to smoke methamphetamines were found.
Linda Dapollonia, 41, Marks Run Road, Chester, West Virginia, was fined $400 for drug paraphernalia, no operator’s license, and unsafe vehicle, stemming from a traffic stop on May 14 in a driveway off of Birch Road. Dapollonia admitted to having “a pipe in her purse,” a probable cause search was conducted, and police found a glass smoking device commonly used to smoke methamphetamines, a rubber container with an unknown brown substance suspected to be methamphetamines, and a metal smoking device commonly used to smoke marijuana.
Michael L. Russell, 42, Wedgewood Street, had his probation dishonorably terminated for a charge of passing bad checks from Nov. 11, 2016. He was also fined $180 for driving under suspension and improper registration for a more recent separate incident.
Clayton T. Nally, 22, Riley Avenue, was fined $250 for assault, amended from domestic violence, for pulling a family or household member by the hair, hitting her on the left side of the face, and causing her to break a fingernail on her left hand on March 14. He was ordered to perform 40 hours community service.
Ronnie Sluss Jr., 42, Meakin Street, was fined $150, sentenced to 30 days in jail with 29 days suspended and credit for one day served and ordered to complete 20 hours of community service for disorderly conduct by way of intoxication. Sluss was found slumped over in his vehicle on West Sixth Street on May 16, having slurred speech and trouble staying on his feet while walking, with a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was believed to have created a situation that was potentially a risk to his wellbeing.
Michael P. Higgins, 46, Stagecoach Road, was fined $250 and sentenced to 24 days in jail for resisting arrest. Higgins was spotted in a vehicle while having an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and was stopped on May 3, refusing multiple times to put his hands behind his back as he was told, and stated he was not going in handcuffs. Higgins was told one more time to put his hands behind his back, which he refused to do, after which he was stunned with a department-issued taser. After he was stunned, he got up and put his hands behind his back with an officer’s help, although he continued to be aggressive and violent toward officers.
Kirsten Burbick, 28, Riffle Road, New Waterford, was fined $150 and ordered to complete 20 hours of community service for driving under suspension.
Megan McBride, 37, Lincoln Avenue, East Liverpool failed to appear on two counts of drug paraphernalia, and left of center. The first count stemmed from a traffic stop on Apr. 30, at Cannons Mill Road, Lisbon when McBride was allegedly observed travelling left of the center line, during which it was found McBride’s passengerhad an active warrant for his arrest. During the passenger’s arrest, officers found a small bag of suspected narcotics on him and conducted a probable cause search, allegedly finding a burnt glass pipe, and suspected narcotics in McBride’s purse. The second count of drug paraphernalia stemmed from an event on May 12, when officers identified McBride’s vehicle in the parking lot of Three Brothers Auto, and executed an active warrant for her arrest. When permission for a search was denied, a K-9 officer performed a sweep of the vehicle for the odor of narcotics and alerted to their presence, prompting a probable cause search which yielded glass pipes with white residue in them, and a plastic container containing an unknown powder.
Christopher Mumford, 41, Lebanon, Pa., failed to appear on charges of falsification and obstructing official business for allegedly giving officers a false name, and upon being informed they knew he was lying, fleeing from officers multiple times, requiring officers to deploy their tasers, at the Quality Inn on St. Clair Avenue May 18. Mumford allegedly claimed to have run because he was frightened of police.
Nicholas D.S. White, 22, Center Street, Wellsville, failed to appear in court for charges of leaving the scene on March 4, 2020, and driving under suspension and failure to control on March 5, 2021
A pretrial was set Aug. 9 for James S. Price Jr., 32, Burford Street, charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. According to the report, Price allegedly punched his ex-wife in the throat, dragged her outside, strangled her, and stomped on her foot on July 4. The woman allegedly suffered multiple bruises, swelling, and a small cut on her foot from the attack, and stated that she was afraid Price would take her life.
A July 21 status conference was set for Dustin J. Brooks, 35, Vine Street, charged with violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor, after allegedly being at the residence of his father, who had a protection order against Brooks, on July 5.
A staus conference was set Aug. 25 for Elizabeth A. Schneider, 56, 14th Street, Wellsville, charged with theft after allegedly failing to scan and pay for items from Walmart totaling $58.61 on May 13.
